I was never the greatest fan of the Star Wars films. Well, when I was young I thought they were amazing. But like all childish things you change your views as you get older. Someone has done us all a favour though by giving one of the most overlooked characters a voice. Now you can hear what R2D2 was actually saying all the time. It turns out he was the only sane one in the whole series.

As a side note, when I got older I began to realise that the “droids” in Star Wars are pretty hard done by. They seem to have emotions, personalities (even if most of they are even more whiny than Marvin the Paranoid Android), they can make independent decisions and seem to be self aware. By most standards that makes them sentient. But they are treated as property and seem to have no rights. They effectively are slaves. Not exactly the right sort of message to give our kids, is it?
