I have no idea what the answer to the question above it. But I salute Barry Smyth from UCD who decided to take a grown up approach to checking this out. He wrote some scripts to check prices in IKEA shops across 12 countries and 1093 products. You can look at his site for the results.

What is more important though is that this is a far better way of checking out whether IKEA are overcharging people here than to just cherry pick a few examples to support a preconceived idea. So Prof Smyth gets a pat on the back for contributing a bit of rational analysis to the question. A case of more light than heat.
