Dublin Moai
Hello stranger. This guy is a relatively recent arrival to our country.

Clontarf Moai. SK, Canon EOS300D
He is a replica Moai donated by the Chilean government to Ireland last year. His new home is out in Clontarf, opposite the yacht club, if you want to say hello to him. He is hard to miss. He’s 3 metres tall and made of volcanic rock from Easter Island.

“Donated”? This is like one of those hideous presents you get from some relative who was looking to get rid of it.
I suppose if Aunt Mary gave you a 5 tonne statue you would probably try to dump it out of the back of the car (or truck) in Clontarf too!

Hi Tevo. I think the Moai is pretty cool, thanks very much for your work on him. It is just a shame that more people in Dublin don’t know he is there.
