My European Election Issues
In the run up to the European elections here in Ireland on June 11th I contacted 6 of the main candidates to get their positions on some European issues of concern to me. This is the email I sent. And below are details of the responses.

Dear Candidate name here,

I am a registered voter in the Dublin constituency. Unfortunately as I live in an apartment block I never get to talk to party canvassers so I will have to address my questions to you (or your staff) directly.

As a candidate for the European parliament I feel the issues discussed should be European ones. So I am interested in hearing position on these issues that are of concern to me and have come before the EU parliament recently:

1) The extension of EU patent law to cover software

2) Data protection for EU citizens - in particular the passing of passenger data to the US government

3) Extension of copyright terms and the fair use rights for consumers

I would be interested in hearing your views on these before I decide how I will vote on June 11th.

Regards

Seamus
